Gateway Community residents and friends will be "Caroling in the Old North End" on Thursday, December 22nd beginning at 5:30 pm. You are welcomed and encouraged to round up your family/friends, who wish to participate in this 'Ole Skool tradition and join us. We will rehearse on Tuesday Dec 13th following our Community meeting approx 6:20ish pm at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. The information on this form is confidential and will be used to help us improve the services that we offer to the community.
All applications must be filled out online or at the site where the distribution will occur.
Distributions take place on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at Vanguard or Second Ebenezer Church.

Okay, you're on Facebook and you have it going on, but everyone knows someone who is in need of this Class!
You know someone (parent, grandparent, friend or neighbor) who comes to you for assistance when they need something Emailed. They tell themselves that they will never need their own email address. Well, Never has arrived.
Government agencies and businesses are quickly shutting down their customer service Call-Centers and ending most face-to-face communications.
Example: A Change of Address with the United States Postal Service can no longer be completed on that little card any longer. This transaction must be complete on the USPS.com and you must provide an email address for the confirmation.
Duffield Library is addressing this issue with FREE - Intro to Email Classes
The class incudes instructions for email account registration and email training.

The BetterBuildings for Michigan
team received word that we can begin signing people up for energy makeovers in the Northend. We are now able to begin work on residents who are income eligible for the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). In order for folks to benefit from this program we will need to get them through our system before Jan. 14, 2012. January 15, 2012 is the cut off for ke...y WAP funding and we would like to get as many homeowners in your neighborhood serviced by this funding as possible.
As a BBFM partner, we are asking that you:
1) Identify residents in your neighborhood who are eligible for WAP
2) Get signed commitments from them, with up-to-date contact information
3) Deliver an ongoing list of committed residents to us now through 14/Jan, 2012
The BBFM team will provide the following support to each BBFM partner:
1) All outreach materials
2) Income screening and audit scheduling
3) Monetary support awarded to partners to cover cost of outreach efforts

Santa's Reading Room - Book Drive
It's that time of year again when I appeal to my Facebook family to help stock Santa's Reading Room with new books for children & youth ages 2-17 years of age. I know this has been a difficult year for many but there are so many who are trying to make it with so much less. We desperately need your help! Books can be... delivered to The Family Place, 8726 Woodward, Detroit 48202 from now until December 12, 2011. Our target population is Head Start & foster children & children recently reunited with their birth parents. Any & all donations will be greatly appreciated. Books can be for reading and/ or activity (coloring, crossword puzzles, etc.). If you give coloring books please include a box of crayons. I'm thanking you, in advance, for blessing our children.
